Used this salopette for resort and freeride skiing and for ski mountaineering. Simply perfect. Polartec NeoShell is incredibly breathable and the fabric on the back is a plus when you sweat. Pocket are big enough and zips are perfectly running, without hassles. Great quality, really windproof and the tissue has some "elasticity" that is really welcomed during activities.
Finally a pair of hardcore Neoshell pants that fit! I got these in advance of a ski season in the alps. That's been impeded slightly by a torn ACL but will be back in business in the next couple of weeks. In terms of durability, I love the kick patches and have yet to put a hole in them from a ski edge. I've also managed to roll over a ski wearing these and not even a scratch to be found. Minor slices to the inner lining at the hem area from ski boot buckles etc but this is usual. My fault for not pulling the pow gaiter down enough. Fit is second to none (tried ArcTeryx, Mammut, North face etc), I don't even know they are there most of the time. Until I look down. Great colours though, its nice to stand out in Yellow! Once I'm back I will try using them Ice climbing and skiing once more. So far 5*
I use these salopettes for Telemark skiing, mostly in the Alps, and chasing a lively Springer Spaniel as a SAR Dog Handler in the UK. They are extremely light and breathable, and hence well suited to high activity levels. They also cope with wet and soggy British weather! The only thing I would change is the sizing - being short and stocky the legs on a Medium are a bit long, whereas the chest and waist are a snug fit so I can't go for a smaller size. Overall though, they are the best pair of salopettes I've ever owned.
These deal with everything. The best skiing salopettes I have ever owned, they keep me warm enough at -10c with only a base layer (standard icebreaker 3/4) and never overheat even when spring skiing. Snow is kept at bay on piste and off through trees and exposed itineraries. But these really proved their ability sledging in North Wales with my 5 year old daughter. Long periods of sitting and kneeling in wet snow, pools of water, and towing child laden sledges back up (120m of vertical), this product still delivers.
Bought these a few years ago now and have been nothing but impressed. Used in Sweden for all winter activities and they have more than coped with it all. The fit is snug which feels a bit restrictive when first on but the cut and stretch is such that after about 30 seconds you forget you are wearing them. On the older model at least the ski gaiters did not cope so well with touring set up as they are a bit tight at the ankle but that has not been a major issue. Recently the zip in one leg has come unstitched. I sent them back to base and am being sent a brand new pair. Apparently the zip on newer models is better quality. So apart from these being the best salopetyes I have ever had, the service from start to finish has been superb. I really like not only the product but also how these guys do business. Five stars all the way.
