Really impressed by the quality of construction and materials; these feel rock solid and still reasonably light. Love the high cut waist for warmth in the most challenging conditions. Excellent design, keeping the brace attachment points all on the front section is especially clever. I really, really didn't want to send these back, but unfortunately I need a medium with a short leg - 29-30cm; any chance of introducing a short leg version please?
I really wanted to switch to bibs and bought these from a retailer in the UK for a great price after returning a pair of Arcteryx bibs that were too baggy for me. I'm 6'1" 170lbs and the medium Magan is perfect. They're a good fit for lean skiers who don't want a park rat look (no shade just not my vibe). Heavy duty, great articulation, and have a really nice feel to the fabric, much softer an less crinkly than my Gore Tex Pro and older eVent shells. Was hoping they'd be made in the UK but they are made in China, although I can't complain about the build quality. Based on close inspection and a couple days at the resort they seem absolutely top notch. I think these will be great for backcountry skiing or resort use where you do a lot of sidecountry and bootpacking, especially in the wet Cascades and Sierra conditions I'm most often in. They could also easily double as a heavy duty winter mountaineering shell. There's a lace hook on the gaiter, a cinch cord on the cuff, as well as grommets for an instep strap so they are clearly meant to be usable with mountaineering boots. I can't say how well the fabric breathes on its own without the zips yet, but overall I'm very impressed with Jottnar, these are incredibly comfortable, great fitting, well designed bibs. And they've got a drop seat for those mountain emergencies ;)
Great trousers 100% recommend
Brilliant tight fitting ski pant (slightly too tight over ski boots). Excellent product performance and another winner Jottnar product...just request it to be flared slightly for us skiers in future iterations. 100% reccomend
I'd been looking to update my ski trousers for a while as mine were over ten years old. I hadn't heard of the Jottnar brand but they looked good on the website so I ordered a pair knowing that I could return them if i didn't like the feel when delivered. When they arrived I could tell they were good quality and what I was looking for so I put them to use. I have now skied with them in eastern Canada in wet conditions and I stayed nice and dry on a wet chairlift. They are also very good in the cold, so long as you wear a couple of layers of thermals. I'm looking forward to trying them out in western Canada on an upcoming cat skiing trip and touring in Chamonix. The design is great and I can tell the high bid will keep the powder out on the odd tumble. They are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. I would put them up there with the Arcetyx stuff but better design and value.
