I felt confident in the Vanir's durability even on the roughest terrains, it really seems built to last. And I really liked that it felt more breathable than the N80p-X GORE-TEX Pro, while also being robust. It was the first time I had tried the SKJOLDR and I was impressed.
The Vanir is lightweight and fits quite well, and is more comfortable than other hardshell legwear I've tried. The zippers, pocket, adjust and finishing are superb; all details were thoughtful and well made. Brilliant.
Light weight, tons of attention to detail. Feel fairly indestructible. Especially around the waist, these are really nicely done with plenty of ability to "customize" and secure the fit. These are well ahead of any ski pant I've owned previously in terms of construction quality and detail.
Using the salopettes in Japan for snowboarding, love how the breathe well and the button design for the gaiter and cuffs are really convenient for my boots. Great fit, fantastic bibs.
I use these salopettes for Telemark skiing, mostly in the Alps, and chasing a lively Springer Spaniel as a SAR Dog Handler in the UK. They are extremely light and breathable, and hence well suited to high activity levels. They also cope with wet and soggy British weather! The only thing I would change is the sizing - being short and stocky the legs on a Medium are a bit long, whereas the chest and waist are a snug fit so I can't go for a smaller size. Overall though, they are the best pair of salopettes I've ever owned.
Just a quick note to say how impressed I have been with my Vanir LT trousers. As well as regular winter and summer use in the Scottish mountains, I have been working on a footpath building contract near the summit of Beinn Narnain (Arrochar) for the last few months and have worn the trousers every day. They take considerable abuse doing this work but have withstood everything so far. Some of the weather we have had in the past few weeks has been more like January than August but the trousers have retained their waterproofness at all times. My only suggestion for improvement would be to the braces which tend to slip a bit during the day - but I understand this has been improved in the most recent model. Overall - a great product, well worth the price.
