Men's Hooded Hybrid Fleece Jacket

A LIGHTLY INSULATED, VERSATILE JACKET BUILT WITH POLARTEC® ALPHA® FLEECE

NEW & REVISED

With a toughened new face fabric, the Asger is a lightly insulated, technically sophisticated jacket for high output activity. A windproof, water repellent outer and a Polartec® Alpha® inner perfectly balance warmth and breathability, especially when moving.

Developed for Special Forces, Polartec® Alpha® is an active air-exchange insulation system for temperature variations and stop-start conditions. Delivering consistent warmth and breathability, Alpha® releases excess body heat before saturation and discomfort.

Layer under a hard shell for regulated warmth when active, or wear as a standalone over a base layer. An athletic fit, stretch cuffs, harness compatible pockets, and an adjustable hood enhance performance and functionality.

The best mid layer I have ever owned

I wanted a really good quality, warm and light fleece layer to wear but was almost overwhelmed by the range of items on offer from all the different manufacturers out there. I did loads of research but kept coming back to the Jottnar kit, mostly because it seemed to tick all the right boxes in terms of what I wanted. I was a little put off by the price but, working on the basis that "You get what you pay for", I took the plunge. I have to say that I was not disappointed.

I have worn this in Snowdonia in variable weather conditions. Climbing the Idwall Buttress in good weather, I found that I never felt too warm, but didn't get cold when we stopped moving for breaks etc. The very next day, on Tryfan climbing another grade 2 scramble, the weather was poor. The Asger handled wet clag with no problems. The wind was effectively stopped. When it came time to wear waterproofs over the top, the jacket kept me warm. All in all, this jacket is extremely effective.

Wearing the jacket with a climbing harness was easy and comfortable. The 'no-snag' adjustments at the sides meant that a snug fit was achieved and the jacket never got in the way or rode up.

I am delighted with the Asger, and am sure that it won't be my only purchase from Jottnar. I'll be wearing this with a Jottnar down jacket(which I've yet to buy) on forthcoming trips to Scotland for winter mountaineering, Kili and Island Peak and have full confidence that it will perform brilliantly.

Asger Jacket

My first Jottnar purchase and most impressed after wearing this in windy conditions in the Brecon Beacons. The jacket has excellent wind proof performance, is warm enough for this time of year that only needed a baselayer underneath. Incredibly lightweight and stylish design only strengthens its appeal. Will definitely try other Jottnar products based on this initial positive experience.

The absolute versatility of this thing.

I wear this on site in rural areas of the UK, I wear it in the office, I wear it in data centres, I wear it in the gym and I wear it walks with my 2 children as it is easy to clean off my children's trails of snot. My go to every day carry jacket.

Just the job

My Jöttnar Magni is my 'go to' winter throw-on but is too warm and heavy for summer use. I was keen to see if the Asger would stand up to Jöttnar's claims about getting rid of body heat so since I bought it in May I have been using it in both warm and cool conditions. I've generally been wearing just a lightweight base layer when on the hill and during stops I've thrown on the Asger to prevent chilling. It gives immediate warmth and amazingly any sweat I have generated does not wet the Polartech Alpha lining. If I'm wearing it on an ascent and I'm getting too warm, I'll simply open the zip a little.
It is a remarkable piece of kit being so light and packable and yet performing perfectly.
One reviewer has commented that it should have a stuff sack but it doesn't need one. Lay the Asger flat on its back, fold the arms in and then roll up from the bottom and stuff it into the hood. It packs down so small that it easily fits in the lid of my backpack. For a three season throw-on piece you'd be hard pushed to find anything better.

Perfect

Used for a canoeing trip and the odd scramble and it has kept me at the perfect temp and comfort out of many of the numerous jackets I own. Cant recommend enough.
