Men's Hooded Base Layer

HIGH PERFORMANCE HOODED BASE LAYER

A highly breathable mid-weight, hooded version of our popular Erling synthetic base layer. A micro-gridded thermal fabric encourages moisture transfer to help keep your skin dry. The deep-venting chest zip further aids heat regulation, and flat-locked seams ensure comfort under rucksack straps. Synthetic fibres are durable and require only basic care in washing. A hoodless Erling is also available.

Erling Hoody

An excellent lightweight fleece shirt, the optimal weight for high output activities when worn under a shell. An admirable alternative to the widely used Patagonia R1, Black Diamond Co-Efficient and others.
Like: lightweight, low weight and low bulk micro-grid fleece; trim cut makes it warmer than some alternatives; long arms and thumb holes increase warmth. Half zip minimises weight and keeps things simple. Long enough to avoid any gaps or cold spots even when stretching up, as when climbing.
Dislike: the hood is larger than alternatives, just big enough to wear over a helmet, which is not my preference. I plan to sew it up behind the ears and remove 5-10 cm of excess material. I don't like hoods which are elasticated at the face opening; they gather around the eyes, restricting vision and looking weird.
Please review the hood structure and this is class leading.

Highly versatile, superb quality

I bought this top in early spring wanting a mid-layer with a hood to go underneath my helmet for winter mountaineering but I’ve been using the Erling Hoody as a top layer for walking, scrambling and climbing through late spring and summer and it has been perfect! Keeps the wind out and the warmth in. Light weight for throwing in my bag. Hood up when I stop for a break and don’t want to cool off. Long sleeves for wearing tucked into gloves. Low zip allows the breeze in at the top of those more challenging sections. Overall a highly versatile item that I wouldn’t be without and haven’t even got around to using it for the purpose I bought it for yet! Quality is excellent and comes recommended for all seasons

Quality speaks

An awesome but of kit. Great to wear on its own or as a layer. Love it.

Nice product poor delivery

The product itself is great, comfortable, versatile and much as it appears on the website.
There was only one (expensive) delivery option and the delivery guy half-stuffed it into a small mailbox rather than walk a flight of stairs, even though I was in.
