LIGHTWEIGHT, PACKABLE, ULTRA-BREATHABLE AND FULLY FEATURED.

Our lightest micro rip-stop, 3 layer SKJOLDR™ waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric is used in this fully featured hard shell. Built for when weight saving and packability is your first consideration, but you won’t accept technical feature or performance compromises.

SKJOLDR™ fabric gives superb harsh weather protection and excellent durability. Two-way pit zips allow temperature regulation, the helmet compatible hood gives excellent visibility and unimpeded head movement, and the anti-snag hem cords avoid tangling with gear. Wear over a mid layer or base layer as your final protective outer layer.

I’d been looking to buy a new waterproof jacket for some time and did plenty of research till finding Jottnar’s Jormun Jacket. I was drawn to Jottnar goods by the very helpful technical detail on what they sell and excellent company presentation. In addition the feedback from previous customers on all goods was very useful too. I particularly found comments on sizing helpful. I’m 6’ and 14st. 3lb with quite a large chest and shoulders so was concerned about a jacket being too small or indeed having too much room – I went for the Large, it’s an excellent fit and looks good too. Sizing can be tricky especially when gear is more of the ‘athletic fit’ than I’m used to, but by following the guides and other customers feedback on sizing, I’ve found the perfect fits for the other gear I’ve got too. The one occasion I did get it ‘wrong’ an exchange was very quickly sent to me. Excellent clothing, first rate customer service through Morgan and as time passes and the gear gets put through its paces I’m confident it will prove its worth.

First trip out was a hideously windy and soggy day up to Snowdon.

Successfully held out the rain and the wind and was large enough to fit an Asger underneath when things got chilly.

I found it rode up a little when scrambling which is a little frustrating but otherwise this jacket is great.

I’m 5’7 and wear a medium, and this was a great fit for me

Jormun hard shell jacket

I've been looking for a replacement for my venerable Rab Latok jacket that I finally had to give up. Biggest problem for me is always the fit of jackets - a small fit could fit regarding body length yet be be tight across the shoulders, a medium would be fine across the shoulders yet baggy and long in the body.

After much searching, I plumped for this jacket in a small and the fit is perfect. Obviously designed for those of us who are broad across the shoulders. My only comment is the inside pocket, I would have liked it to be a 1cm longer, which I know is being picky. I just see it as the rest of jacket is spot on for me, something as little as this shows up.

Had a week in the Lakes and coped admirably with heavy rain and wind going up Skiddaw. I 'run hot' yet didn't overheat thanks to the fabric and under arm zips. I would also say it'll be perfect for going to the Alps for some summer 4000m peaks. Next is to replace my 'winter' hard shell so I have my eye on the Grim hard shell.

Really is a great jacket.

I can fully recommend the lightweight ''Jormun'' shell. It performed really well on a recent snowboarding trip in ordinary weather, keeping me dry and the wind at bay. Large size fits perfectly for me (I'm a fairly solid build, 6ft and about 92kilos). I would just like assurances from Jottnar that their range is ethically manufactured, particularly given the ''Made in China'' label, before making further purchases.

Overall excellent, lightweight jacket

PROS:
- excellent cut and sizing; I am 6”2, average build and found size large was a good length front and back, a good fit overall with enough room to wear layers underneath
- the material is clearly high quality and has dealt with whatever weather I have been out in
- the jacket is very light and will be ideal for summer hikes but I can also see this being suitable for chillier times too
- the weighted hood is very good and leaves enough room for wearing a hat on below
- the arm length is long, which I like, and leaves good room to wear gloves at the cuffs
- the outside pockets are comfortable for hands and large enough for anything you would reasonably need to carry
- the jacket is comfortable when fully zipped up, which I have not found to be the case with other brands

CONS:
- the internal pockets are quite small, not large enough for an iPhone 12
- there are better colour options with some of the other jackets (though I was happy enough with the blue)
