LIGHTWEIGHT, PACKABLE, ULTRA-BREATHABLE AND FULLY FEATURED.

Our lightest micro rip-stop, 3 layer SKJOLDR™ waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric is used in this fully featured hard shell. Built for when weight saving and packability is your first consideration, but you won’t accept technical feature or performance compromises.

SKJOLDR™ fabric gives superb harsh weather protection and excellent durability. Two-way pit zips allow temperature regulation, the helmet compatible hood gives excellent visibility and unimpeded head movement, and the anti-snag hem cords avoid tangling with gear. Jormun Hard Shell - Simply Magic!

Initially I thought this jacket had magic powers, as the first couple of times I wore it it promptly stopped raining as soon as I set foot outside of the door, which I thought was a great idea for a waterproof jacket!
However, the Welsh weather soon reverted to type, and I was able to road test the jacket in the rain. I'm delighted to say that the jacket lived up to expectations, and I remained totally dry and comfortable.
Due to the current restrictions I haven't really been able to use this jacket for it's intended purpose, and to be fair this jacket is probably over engineered for what I'm likely to use it for, but I can't say I've ever been out in the rain and heard anyone complaining that they're too dry.
I also used this jacket during the recent snowy weather with just a couple of quality merino layers beneath it and was comfortably warm so the wind proofing is also top notch.
The jacket has all the features you're likely to need, the pit zips are a big plus, and whilst I could live without the hood being helmet compatible, I have to say the wired peak is brilliant, very substantial and mouldable.
On a really macro level I would have preferred the velcro wrist tabs to be on the outside of the sleeve facing backwards, rather than the inside facing forwards, as they can catch against your sides as you swing your arms, but as the sleeves are over long, you can tuck the cuff under or 'blouse' the sleeves over the cuff to stop this happening.
Laid flat the size Small measures approx 22" pit to pit, and with an athletic cut, tapers down to approx 19.5" at its narrowest point before coming back out to approx 21" at the bottom. Neck to hem down the back is approx 30" and the drop at the back is about 4" more than the front.
If this is the entry level jacket, then the top end ones must be bomb proof!
All in all I think this is a terrific jacket, and although the price may be considered a bit salty by some, I did manage to pick it up with a bit of a discount, and it compares very favourably with some of the more widely known top end brands.
I'm definitely looking to purchase more items, I've got my eye on a couple of other things to use my 10% discount coupon on (if they ever come back into stock).
100% Recommended.

Jorman jacket review

Recently purchased a medium and must say I’m using it as a general purpose walking over jacket at present and it fits me perfectly keeping me well warm as an outer shell jacket.Great piece of kit

Solid shell piece, but US customers be sure of your color and size choices

I really like the Jormun for its technical features and construction, however, the Fire Red colorway has a distinct orange tint to it that I didn't expect. At least to my eyes and everyone I've asked it does, so I wanted to return it.
Unfortunately returning the jacket to exchange for a different color is going to cost me at least $100. This is the second garment that I've had to return (first was sizing for the Fenrir) and the first time it cost $75. If you're ordering from the US, just be sure to look at the sizing chart closely and be aware the colors on a screen may not be exactly what you expect because returning items to the UK is expensive!

Outstanding piece

This Fall I decided it was time to replace my old and very worn out kit. I bought the Jorum mainly for summer backpacking and mountaineering trips. It is light yet feels bomber and has all the adjustments and perfect fitting to offer coverage when anger is present ( I am 6'1" 180...Got a large). We have had mild weather so far this winter with a few quick but intense storms. On a long vigorous hike I wore the Jorum in a blizzard with a heavy base layer. In my pack I had down as the idea of getting sweaty on the way up I wanted a dry layer beneath for the descent. Needless to say I was dry the entirety of the venture and did not need the down (temps were approx. around 22F with a stiff wind). This shell was just astounding in keeping me protected and bottling up the heat. I am so thrilled to have such a quality piece in my kit for mountain adventures. The fit is perfect allowing freedom of movement but not floppy. The breathability was also exceptional which is important for I am a sweater. Thanks for making such fine gear with purpose and qualities so vital to mountaineers. I am looking forward to years of comfort and reliability. I would write more but there is snow falling and I am going for a hike with Mr. Jorum...Cheerio....
