Men's Lightweight Hooded Windproof Jacket

Jacket is a bit thinner than I expected but that doesn’t impact on performance. Worn on the Scottish hills and has come through with flying colours. They also fixed a delivery issue for me very quickly - brilliant customer service.

I was looking for an ultra lightweight packable replacement for a similar jacket which I had foolishly lost. This one met my expectations and is a great piece of kit and I am no longer pining for my previous windproof. Ultra light and perfectly suited to those days where it’s drizzly/windy first thing but going to brighten up and a more substantial jacket is going to be a nuisance later on. This packs down into the integral pocket making it perfect to stow away in a bag or backpack taking up very little space. The deep zip makes it easy to pull on & off and the elasticated cuffs are very comfortable - the hallmark of the quality that Jöttnar produce. The adjustable hood is handy and the semi-rigid/flexible peak helps to keep it’s shape without interfering with the pack ability. I am 5’8” with 38” chest and the Medium is a comfortable fit. I chose the olive for a bit of variety from my usual darker colours and am very pleased with that decision. A great addition to my Jöttnar collection and a great piece of kit.

This top works so well in the morning when it is just too cool to be in shirt sleeves. Super-light, of course, and with the usual quality details. Easy to pack away. Agree the sleeves could be slightly longer.

What makes this excellent is that it's a half zip not full zip, which reduces bulk and weight, and the wired hood keeps its structure. Superior to the Black Diamond Alpine Start for these reasons, I've also owned that. At 5' 9" and 72kg I am most often medium or small, and I having tried both I bought this in small. This keeps it close to the body so it doesn't flap around in wind. It's something I have on my harness or in a bum bag, to throw on over a t-shirt. In worse weather with more layers, I'd be taking another jacket. As others have said, the only flaw is over-tight wrists, which need a larger elasticised component.
